W.O. Crockett
Scholarship Fund
The Scholarship is named after the late Professor Wilbert O. Crockett, an esteemed teacher, and administrator in the English Department at SJSU.
Prof. Crockett taught at SJSU for 29 years – from the late 1960s until his retirement in 1996.
Throughout his tenure, his focus never wavered away from students and their education.
He was especially committed to supporting the recruitment and development of Black students and the faculty required to teach them.
“Receiving the W. O. Crockett scholarship is not simply receiving financial assistance to advance my educational pursuits; it is a confirmation that my hard work and talent is respected. But at the heart of it all, it is a reminder that my potential has been seen and is being encouraged.”
